2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is one of the most popular full-size SUVs to ever hit the roads, and it’s easy to see why with its versatility, power, and ability to tackle tough challenges with the least amount of effort. View our current models of new Jeeps in stock. The current model year of the Grand Cherokee is a carryover from 2023, which means there aren’t a lot of changes to the model. However, you can expect to find a lot of variety in the trim levels that let you get into a Grand Cherokee with all the latest technology and performance features that make the SUV into a road warrior.

Engine Options and Horsepower

All trim levels apart from the 4xe come equipped with the same 3.6-liter V-6 engine that provides 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic for fuel economy and predictability when traversing over rough terrain.

If you’re looking for hybrid performance, the 4xe plug-in hybrid features a 2.0-liter V-4 with turbo. It accelerates from zero to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds and averages 56 MPGe with 26 miles of electric-only range. The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe offers 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s also paired with an eight-speed transmission.

Driving Dynamics and Off-Road Capabilities

The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee is designed to deliver the type of driving performance you need for traveling on any type of roadway or terrain. That means the suspension delivers a smooth ride on pavement and absorbs the impact of potholes and bumps before it reaches the cabin. In contrast, when you’re on dirt roads and other rough footing, you get the immediate feedback you need to overcome the difficulties underneath.

Adaptive Suspension

Jeep’s Quadra-Trac and Quadra-Drive systems are available at all trim levels of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Each level is designed to deliver a specific type of suspension for control and capability under different driving conditions. Here’s a look at the different four-wheel-drive (4WD) systems that you can find on the Grand Cherokee:

  • Quadra-Trac I: The best system for most Jeep Grand Cherokee owners due to its ease of use and reliability during different types of weather and roadway conditions. The system consists of an Active On-Demand 4WD system with the Selec-Terrain Management system.
  • Quadra-Trac II: This 4WD system has a two-speed low transfer case that uses technology to detect the moment a tire starts slipping. Once slippage is detected, the transfer case transfers all the available torque to the axle that has traction. It also has the 4WD Select-Terrain Traction Management system and Quadra-Lift Suspension system.
  • Quadra-Trac SRT: This is only available on the SRT and Trackhawk trim levels, and it consists of a full-time 4WD system that delivers the best possible performance no matter what the road conditions may be. What makes the SRT stand out is the fact that it can handle the torque generated by the engines on both of these trim levels and features a split torque system and suspension damping.
  • Quadra-Drive II: Featuring a rear electronic limited-slip differential and full-time 4WD, the Quadra-Drive II is always active. It’s more than capable of dealing with random weather conditions and is designed to send maximum torque to a rear wheel that’s slipping.

If you’re looking into getting your first Jeep Grand Cherokee and plan for the occasional off-road adventure, the Quadra-Trac I system makes the most sense for your needs. In contrast, if you want to get the most out of your Grand Cherokee’s 4WD capabilities, the Quadra-Trac SRT is the best choice due to its aggressive suspension and differential.

Off-Road Prowess

The original Jeep Grand Cherokees were designed for off-roading and the ability to easily handle different types of terrain and water obstacles. This legacy continues with the 2024 model year, but the advances in the drivetrain, suspension systems, and high-touch interior features make it easier to enjoy the 4WD capabilities than ever before. The 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee keeps delivering on its promise with its available suspension packages that’ll take you places you never thought possible.

Innovative Performance Technology

The Grand Cherokee gets the latest touches in performance technology for the 2024 model year, helping it perform to the best of its capabilities no matter where you’re going. The Quadra-Lift air suspension gives the SUV up to 10.9 inches of ground clearance and 24 inches of clearance for water fording. It adjusts itself automatically to respond appropriately to road conditions and has five height settings. Meanwhile, the Selec-Terrain traction management system lets you select from on- or off-road conditions as well as fine-tune the modes to Auto, Sport, Rock, Snow, and Mud/Sand.

All engines are paired with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. The wide range of gear selection makes it easy to keep the engine in the rpm range that’s needed in the moment. You can power your way through loose dirt in the lower rpms or accelerate quickly to pass other cars on the road.

Driving Experience and Comfort

The interior of the 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee continues the badge’s reputation for luxury no matter the trim level. Combining the high-touch interior with your choice of suspension and drivetrain means you get an SUV that fits your unique needs and desires for an off-roading vehicle that can take a lot and ask for more.
